]]>Due to the phenomenal success of our BUY ONE GET ONE HALF PRICE* offer this will continue in 2024!
*NEW*
We have added one extra ‘thing’ into the mix - pay both deposits (as you would anyway) and defer ordering the second pair until you receive your first pair, which will allow you to tweak your measurements for the second pair if you need to. *Extra postage costs will apply.
As you know during our TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY YEAR 2020, we made the decision to allocate much of our marketing budget to the things that mean the most to us - our clients and the animal charities and disaster funds closest to our hearts. Instead of spending huge sums on sponsored riders, influencers, magazine advertisements or hugely expensive stands at horse shows we instead put that allocation into rewards for the people driving our company as much as we are - our clients. Without the support of our loyal clients (that will be you) our company would not be the company that we are today - we see every client as our ambassador and it is incredibly rare for someone to come to us that hasn't been recommended. So this reward is for those that want to invest into our incredible riding boots created by hand, with as much passion as you can imagine, in our workshop in Portugal.

HANDMADE-TO-MEASURE ONLY
With every single order being completely different to the boot created before, we are consider ourselves a totally bespoke company producing only custom products handmade-to-exact-measures and made-to-order only. Pricing will be dependent on the boot that you choose, the precise customisation selected and the complexity of the pattern (if placed as a special order and outside of our usual pattern). It is rare that any two boot orders are totally identical and we feel it's only fair to pay for what you want to buy rather than have set pricing. We use 24 measures to make each pair of beautiful boots - we make a boot for the right leg and a boot for the left leg (as most riders will have different calf sizes) so we consider our blueprint for each pair of boots to be as accurate as is possible to provide the perfect fit.
We offer a full consultation (non-obligatory) service in the studio and via zoom, where we can discuss your requirements, the options available and the exact pricing. The information below is a guide to our current pricing.
We do not use any standard sizing or standard panels in the creation of our boots. As they are totally handmade and in this respect may show grains and imperfections will not affect the performance or longevity of our boots as we only use the most incredible leathers from the best tanneries in the world. Whilst leather and component prices have increased globally we would never choose cheaper or inferior products to enable us to keep prices the same. We will simply never compromise on the quality of our boots.
NEW BASE PRICE FROM ... (NO CUSTOMISATION) FROM
Choose a colour or any colours from the entire range, select any fastening (options will depend on the model) and choose any toe style (some are not available on certain models and we will advise this at your time of order). You can change the colour on most panels of the boot without any additional cost. Note that rear zip boots are just one panel of leather on the leg and there for cannot be a combination of colours but you could still have a contrast on the toe and/or heel if required.
In a nutshell if you don't add a top or any additional styling this is the price you will pay:
NEW CUSTOMISATION PRICING
On top of the base price of your boots, add a top and colours from our extensive range, add personalisation - initials or a logo, add bespoke diamanté, bespoke top design, add a sheepskin foot or have the entire boot fully lined with sheepskin.
Options:
HORSE BOOTS
Made-to-order horse boots in any colour or colours from the entire collection.
ACCESSORIES
We offer matching spur straps and protectors, with or without diamante, to compliment you boot design, boot trees and our luxury handmade, padded and partitioned boot bag (5 colours available).
SPECIAL ORDER LIMITED EDITION LEATHERS
By special request we can source leathers and fabrics to create a truly unique on-off boot. The consultation process will be much longer, whilst we source the leather and await approval. Starting from £200. We can give you more accurate price on request.
PAYMENT
We take a deposit of £250 per pair of boots. The balance is payable upon collection or dispatch from the studio. There is an option in the online store to make an adhoc payment during the production time if required.
CURRENCY (FOR ORDERS OUTSIDE OF THE UK)
All prices are in UK sterling and you will be billed in sterling. Due to our invoicing system and, as all cards suppliers and banks charge different foreign currency rates, we are not able provide the cost in any other currency. Please also note your purchase may be subject to import taxes as you have not paid any sales tax on your order.

Hopefully you will have read our blog ‘A muddy field or a beautiful studio’ and know that we don’t do ‘shows’ as we want you to have an exceptional experience surrounded by so many beautiful boots and accessories (as it’s possible to cram into our pretty atelier) and we just can’t do that remotely. We also feel that when you are trudging around shows and either boiling hot or freezing cold, your measurements can be affected dramatically. We would rather guarantee a perfect fit in the right conditions.
Around 55 percent of our clients visit the studio and the remainder will use a combination of zoom consultations and emails and our comprehensive measuring guide. ‘Embrace the tape measure’ will give you the confidence to reach for the measure, grab a friend and go for it.
Visiting the studio
If you are close by or not in the case of many who visit us from all over the globe, from Norway and Iceland to Los Angeles and Sao Paulo and beyond, you can click here to access our online booking form.
Your appointment will last 1 hour (often much longer) and you will have our undivided attention, expertise and experience. You will see all of our models, the colours, the accessories and discuss all of the options before deciding what is best for you and possibly what will match your horse, jacket, lucky mascot or hat best. Most clients liken the consultation to that of a wedding dress fitting and many suggest it’s slightly better....
Existing clients.
Simply email us or complete the online order form. No measurements are necessary as we will hold your file from any previous order. However, it you do need to tweak any measurements please let us know, generally this might just be the height.
If you can’t visit the studio
You can use the online order form to submit your order and your measurements or email your order to us.
Once we receive your measurements we will scrutinise them before sending you a checklist and any requests for further information or additional measurements. We are just as fussy (if not more so) about our online orders and we can spot any potential issues easily given the number of measurements and cross-checking measurements we require and our vast experience. It is exceptionally rare to have any issues and over the past ten years this still remains at less than 1% of all orders. ‘Embrace the tape measure’ will give you all the information you need to be confidence to do this.
Book a zoom!
Once you have prepared a set of measurements, or if you would prefer to go through them with us ‘directly and in person’, you can book a zoom fitting where we scrutinise your measurements together, discuss your requirements and all the options available. Please note all appointments are GMT or BST depending on the time of year.
Can I talk to you ahead of preparing measurements?
Yes! Just book zoom consultation and we can talk beautiful boots before you make any decision!
Many clients would like to discuss their order before starting the measurements and we find the easiest way of doing this is a video call. We will be able to discuss our models, colours and make recommendations based on your requirements.
Whilst in an idea world we would love to meet every single client in person it’s not possible (yet), however, we do feel we get to know our clients so well regardless through telephone calls, video calls and email and every single client and every single order receives the same attention to detail that we are incredibly proud of. So book a fitting or use the online order form and let the journey to beautiful boots begin!
Payments
We take a £250 deposit for each pair of custom tall boots ordered. The balance is not due until the boots are ready to be collected or shipped from the studio.

'See you soon!'
Buying custom boots is indeed an investment and not everyone can visit the studio to be measured professionally. The numbers of boots that don’t fit properly are incredibly low (less than ½ %) when we consider the number of boots we sell. Even then all is definitely not lost and we are here to help.
When you send us your measurements
Firstly, before we place an order where we have not measured the client personally, which accounts for over 50% of all orders, we follow a very strict process of checking the measurements. Studying them very closely (literally) requesting new measurements and zooming with the client so we can oversee any measurements we want to triple check.
Most clients are comforted by our due diligence, but some find us a bit of a nuisance and it can take weeks or months before we will accept the order. We are not in business to simply make boots and for them not be perfect. We will do absolutely everything possible to be as sure as possible the boots will fit. We will persist with checking until we are totally satisfied they are as accurate as possible.
We do make our boots to the precise measurements supplied but that doesn’t mean two boots ordered at the same time will feel totally identical – the fit will ultimately depend on the model and the leather selected. Models do feel different as we have various foot shapes and leathers which may also feel very different and we will discuss during your consultation.
At the time the leather is cut we know what stretch that skin will have and the order is cut according to that. So for instance, a leather with no stretch vs one with a lot of stretch means they will arrive with one feeling practically perfect from day one and the other may feel very tight but ultimately after breaking in they will both feel more or less the same.
If you follow our measuring guide perfectly, we are totally confident from years and years of experience and so many happy returning clients, that you will not go wrong.
The top 3 things you must never do:
What we do when we receive your measurements …
We will literally scrutinise them for imperfections, which, with so much experience, becomes rather obvious. For instance, under the knee where the boots will end (measurement 8) will rarely be bigger than the calf and if it is we can assume in most cases it’s been measured too high. This is not to say it can’t be the same, those with very slim calves will actually have little difference between the calf measurement and the under-knee measurement and sometimes (even more rarely) under the knee will be bigger so this is one area we focus on when we first set eyes on a set of measurements.
Possibly the hardest measurement is the height. We provide photos for our measurements rather than a video as we want you to see precisely where to measure rather than a video where it might not be so easy to view as you are measuring. We have a top tip for the top and also compare the measurement with an existing pair of boots.
At the point we have a full set that has been checked, if we are still a little unsure we will have a final ZOOM to see anywhere we are unsure of ‘in person’.
If we simply took the first set of measurements supplied, we would not have the reputation that we do.
But after all this the boots have arrived and don’t fit? Regardless of who did the measurements:
Firstly, we need to look at why you think they don’t fit. If they are just incredibly tight all over and made in a soft matte leather this just wouldn’t alarm us. The rule of thumb with custom boots is that if they zip, even with some effort, they just need breaking in. With a matte leather on some models if they are not tight they may well not retain their shape.
Secondly, we need to work out what measurement may have been wrong as it could be tight in just one area.
In almost all cases the boots will stretch naturally quite fast and it’s usual in the studio for clients to say, within ten minutes, they feel better already! So why does this happen? When your boots are removed from your mould there will be an element of shrinkage but once your legs are inside the boots and you warm up the leather it returns to the shape and size we made. Depending on the leather will depend on how long this takes.
We know leather and we know our leather - which is exceptional. We are not fobbing anyone off when we explain how our measurements work and how our leather is cut. We make a truly handmade product crafted by incredible artisans who have been leather workers their entire lives and these skills have, in many cases, been passed down through generations. We are known for the perfect fitting boots and customer service – we would not have that reputation if we did not know our craft.
Some things to try first and do not panic!
We do send out fitting instructions with your new boots but many are so excited to get in them (totally expected) and they don’t read them first but here are our top three tips!
We will automatically ask for a new set of measurements; this is NOT implying you have gained or lost weight but we want to see if anything has changed as we will need to stretch them to a new measurement if necessary. This is also not us trying to deflect anything at all but simply to ascertain where the issue is, we are trying to help and will help. Without exception.
Out of 24 measurements it is not possible for us to get them all wrong – in the past 5 years we have made a typo on 2 pairs of boots and this has been on 1 measurement of the 24. We have also omitted (on 1 pair of boots) to not add in the space to accommodate a full sheepskin lining. We cut very, very precisely by hand and this is all triple checked before the leather arrives on the cutting table which is then checked by laser first so we really do ensure we cut the measurements we have. Every time.
IF a full set of measurements come back and every measurement has changed we know one of two things has happened – they were measured wrongly (it is not unheard of that someone has not measured from zero!) or the measurements have changed! There is no other explanation and 99% of times in this instance the measurements have changed.
One client was recently measured by us and between the fitting and the collection had gone from not riding at all to back to riding all day and every measurement had changed consistently. Riders generally think their leg measurements do not change but we know from extensive experience they absolutely, 100% do. We still remade these boots even though everything had changed.
All this said it’s just so rare for these situations to arise due to our extensive checking in the studio or online. Be confident. Follow the guide. Get perfect boots.
Ok I’ve read all that they don’t fit, so what happens next?
If the boots are just super tight and you can’t cope with breaking them in and they do not have laces (if you have laces adjust the laces) we will still ask for a full set of measurements. If nothing has changed we will collect and stretch at absolutely no cost to you. If the measurements have changed significantly we may just remake them. In any case and as per our terms and conditions of sale you would only pay shipping costs and the replacement would be identical boots in the new sizes. Any change to design will incur costs.
Regardless of why the measurements are different, if they are, we will offer solutions but please do remember we are the same people you have been working with the entire time so please do be kind, we will resolve the situation without a doubt. Speak to us in the first instance. Ultimately and in the worst-case scenario we can remake them - on the odd occasion we receive some very rude emails or phone calls it really is soul destroying and totally unnecessary. It’s very hard to get the solution right as nothing is good enough and usually we know at that point there is nothing we can do (but not through trying) – we are a super small company and we want every client to have perfect boots.
But do you make mistakes ? Come on.
Rarely as detailed above but we try incredibly hard not to and succeed over 99% of the time. Do we provide solutions which have included stretching, altering, remaking or refunding in all of those cases? Yes.
We just can’t help if we are not aware of a problem and we will do our best to help if the boots are unworn (because you can’t get them on or they are too tight). If you have worn them we can only offer stretching (or adding an elastic panel) as a solution but this will be quicker and cheaper for you to do locally and we can usually suggest someone for you.
The celeris effect
The beauty of celeris is that consistent fit, the joy of the same hands on the same table making your boots time after time. We are not a production line, we are an old-fashioned, traditional and passionate company. We are so proud of the company we are today and we are who we are because of our loyal clients who have grown our company as much as we have, they are our cheerleaders and we hear them.
We are here to make sure you receive the most perfect boots and in all but a very few situations you will. It is our soul mission to deliver perfect boots every single time. And that is a fact.

SHOP
When clients attend a fitting at the studio they have our undivided attention for at least an hour. Most clients arrive thinking they have the perfect boot planned, having fallen down the rabbit hole of our instagram page and website, held extensive discussions with friends and family and called summits at their yard to help them lock down ‘the’ design. Only to walk into the studio and start over when they see all the boots on display, along with at least 125 colour swatches, which will then be mixed and matched with vigour before understanding the true meaning of ‘bespoke’ and ‘no two boots are quite identical’.
Having said that, the most important element of any fitting, is the fitting. The measurements are the most vital part, the cog in our wheel of design, and if those are not 100% accurate then our reputation for the #perfectfit would not exist for very long. In the studio, clients are calmly excited and stress-free. On a showground or indoor event, clients are not always in breeches, have usually been rushing around between ‘showtime’ (to fit in the shopping), and as a result are usually a little tired, sweaty and harassed and probably puffy (from the heat) or chilled (from the ice cold wind and rain) – none of which are helpful when measuring legs. They will then stand on grass (possibly mud), have reasonably accurate measurements taken and probably not enjoyed the experience very much.
On the other hand, clients love our studio experience, poring over the boots and samples, snapping and snap-chatting designs for approval, deciding and then un-deciding (within minutes), before finally settling on the one! The one that they want right there and then, the one they will dream about until they arrive (and talk about just as much), knowing they will most definitely be the #perfectfit and everything will tick our box of perfectness - every time!
Trying to replicate this alone, at a show with a stand teeming with riders, would mean that no single client would truly receive our full attention (disaster), personal service (possibly not vital admittedly) and design knowledge (mandatory) – we just would not be happy knowing that that something might not be perfect and we are all about Perfection. Our boots are quite the investment (we totally understand that), and are grateful you have put your trust in us so we need to ensure we have what we need, to do just that.
We want our company to be measured on the entire experience, from that first thought and viewing our instagram page to skipping out the of the studio door (literally in some cases), boot bag in hand, desperate for the rain to stop to test drive the #superboots for the first time. From the endless emails saying their boots are 'amazeballs' to the proud ‘first time owner’ pictures on facebook (we smile at them all!), we don’t want to change this experience but we want to enhance it - every time. We are all about fabulous product and a fabulous service and, for now at least, we are just not convinced we can do that in a muddy field somewhere in England.
See you in the studio soon!
If you can't make it to the studio read this next!
We are often asked what the ‘rules’ are regarding riding boots in official competitions in the USA. A client recently sent us the rule book downloaded from the USDF website and we found the relevant sections, which you will find below. This is the latest 2023 rules, beyond this we would say check again!
We see many professional riders at the highest levels including riding at the Olympics, wearing our lace up boots but they are generally black and reasonably understated. We are of the opinion having read the rules that most boots are legal but you should think conservatively when it comes from the colours you choose!
We cannot be responsible for your choices and whether they are legal for competition or not so always carry out your own due diligence before finalising your order.

At Celeris UK we remain as passionate today, as we were the day we opened the doors to our little workshop in Felgueiras, Portugal, in 2009. Back then it was in the basement of the home of founder and master bootmaker, Artur who learnt and honed his craft traditionally from generations of bootmakers and leatherworkers in his family. From humble beginnings we have grown, yet we continue to work even more passionately to provide truly bespoke handmade riding boots. Read about how CEO and Founder, Cate (who also started in her garage, long before the studio became a reality) met Artur here.
As a family business we are committed to providing exceptional riding boots for every equestrian. Each and every single pair of boots are cut and prepared on the same table by the same hands and why every pair you buy will fit you very much the same bar how different models might feel and they do feel different. Incredibly, after all these years, they are the 'exact' same hands - using all 24 measurements to create a template and a unique pattern for every rider. We never use any standard sizes, which makes our riding boots truly custom made. We make a boot for your left leg and a boot for your right and rarely are they every identical.
It's all in the name.
During the very early days as a yet unnamed company, we knew we had to have a name closely associated with a horse, something quite magical, something to be considered a legend. Whilst researching historical horses Artur read the story of Pegasus, the White Winged Horse founded in ancient Greek Mythology. Celeris was the only winged son and stood second only to Pegasus in splendour and speed and in his star constellation his head is only visible alongside the full size of his sire Pegasus in the celestial race in the sky. Artur knew instantly this was to be his brand's name and the inspiration for our beautiful logo.
The first collection.
Initially we had three signature boot models; the Passage, the Bia and the Diogo. These are the foundation of all boots we now design. We then introduced the Polo and from these 4 models you can create the boot of your dreams. With 125 exceptional leathers, that never make the cut until they have been tried and tested for performance and longevity, 29 tops styles with the option to customise them further you can create your perfect boot, which will easily be totally unique to you. We are known as much for our diversity of designs, colours and customisation, as we are for our perfect fit.
In 2015, our iconic Bia boot became the most revered boot on the equestrian market and our best-selling model - outselling every other model. The Bia boot was first designed and created in 2009 by Artur, with the main inspiration based on historical Portuguese riding boots. By 2017, most major brands had a version of our Bia. However, we proudly maintain we own the best Bia - by far. Created with superior components and handcrafted by the most highly skilled craftsmen - it takes two to lace a pair, to this very day! Our Bia has laces for adjustment if required but a zipper for ease of use!
The Diogo collection: our signature jumping boot collection with a rear zipper. However, frequently used by dressage riders preferring the zipper at the back.
The Passage collection: a traditional dressage model with an off-centre front zipper and within this collection we have regular panels, reinforced panels and super firm panels.
The Bia collection: our full length lace up boots with either off-centre front zipper or rear zipper. Available with regular or reinforced outer panels.
The Polo collection: with a front centre zipper this model can have both straps at the top and ankle or just the top and is available with regular or reinforced panels.
What we're made of.
When we first began our journey, we made it our priority to source the best quality leathers and components. As a fledgling company it wasn’t easy, but that didn’t stop us. All of our boots are crafted from the finest leathers, the highest quality components and a fully patented sole. We will not compromise on the quality of our leathers or components and never will.
Since the beginning our sole hasn’t changed and it is without a doubt, the backbone of our boots. Our special sole starts as a fully stitched part and is then sealed with a second section that covers the stitched part, before being sealed air-tight in a machine designed by Artur and built in Italy.
Our patented sole withstands all the water, sand and daily elements a rider will encounter and everything that is thrown at it. In the process of rigorous research and product testing, we have never found anything comparable.
Details, all the little details.
An often overlooked, but vital component, our YKK zippers (made for celeris) are another source of pride. They are the strongest zippers meeting the demands and needs of every one of our riders and it is incredibly rare that our zippers fail. Our insoles are the most comfortable and supportive we could buy and clients with high arches are impressed with the support they provide. From sheepskin lining, new galvanised hardware for the Bia boots, water resistant suedes, diamanté detailing, swarovski fabric leathers and with the option to monogram your boots we think we have chosen the best of the little extra things too. Our buttons and pins have recently been upgraded to gold and silver coated with a crisp new logo branded onto them. We are an ever-evolving company and we will continue to improve, however small, in every single area that we can, whilst never compromising.
The fabric of us.
Our leathers are now supplied by the leading luxury tanneries globally, who also supply some of the world's finest designer brands. Our leathers are pigment dyed and will in some cases show grains and imperfections adding to the outstanding feel and appearance. Our leathers will vary in thickness as we choose not to use chemicals in the production process. Using chemicals is a preferred process by those who wish to ensure every bit of leather looks totally uniform and pristine, but in doing so makes the leather much thinner.
We are often asked if we can use vegan leather but unfortunately after extensive research, we decided that we would not compromise our unparalleled perfect fit and longevity. Vegan leather does not stretch or mould making it almost impossible to create the perfect shape that will be comfortable for the rider. Vegan leather is also not planet friendly nor sustainable, mostly made from pvc and polyurethane and this is something the currently we are not prepared to consider.
Leather is a by-product of the meat industry and thus there is a global responsibility to recycle into leather and can therefore be considered truly sustainable.
Where we are now.
In year one, we were just five people, which included Artur and his wife Maria. We now employ 25 talented craftsmen and women working in the workshop and a further 7 outside, all having learnt the art of bootmaking from our founding craftsmen. It is worth mentioning that almost everyone working with us is family or family friends, we are proud to work with and support our extended family. Having outgrown our first workshop, we moved to a new workshop two years ago - and out grew that even faster! Early in 2019 it was decided that we should build our own purpose built atelier and in September 2023 we moved in!
We are renowned for our funky styles but equally for classic and traditional designs which actually account for over 80% of what we do create. Whatever the colour or design, from pink and spotty to plain black, we have perfection for every equestrian and a guarantee of stunning boots. As a small business we can only produce a certain number of beautiful boots per month, which has meant that at times, specifically major holidays, there will been longer lead times. As our team grows and our workshop expands, we are working hard to reduce lead times considerably. That said perfect boots will always come first - before the time it takes to create them.
Where we will be.
The future is truly exciting for Celeris and our riders, and we hope you enjoy the journey with us. Our quality and attention to detail will only improve as we grow into our new workshop where we won't produce more boots but will be offering some new custom leather products and will introduce new services . When you buy Celeris you are investing in a company that will never cut corners and will always create the most perfect, beautiful boots - just for you.

USEFUL LINKS
Generally you can find exactly what you would love from our standard options but just in case you can't we can make some other minor extra custom changes too, which are detailed below amongst the extensive standard options ... we can adapt most of our designs but we can't redesign our models or tops or totally design new ones ...
TOPS
Choose from 24 tops and growing. Use any colours or combinations on the top styles and add some custom changes too such as monogramming and additional crystals in specific designs.
If for instance you wanted 4 stripes instead of 3 on top style 5, we can do this. If you wanted to change the size of the stripes this is also the type of thing that is possible.
Watch our for new tops are coming in 2021.
TOES
Choose from 10 toes currently, which again you can custom 'slightly' by adding piping (which will be flat) or a colour within the borders of the stitching.
PANELS
You can change the colour of most of the panels on your boots - whilst most clients will change the strap (fastening colours) you can also change the colours on the outside panel, the inside panel, the heel or toe, piping on the toe or the top edge, the full length zip covers and the back edge spine (very popular). What is available will be dependent on the model that you choose.
Straps (fastenings) can be in any leather you choose to compliment or contrast with your base colour. If you have a boot in the Diogo collection you can also choose to have the top and bottom zip covers in different colours which is very popular.
Current strap options: short strap and popper (snap), long strap and popper (snap), long strap and buckle.
Worth noting: long straps with poppers (snaps) or buckles cannot be used with any top that has a vertical stripe within the design.
Outside panel and inside panels - whilst we don't do it very often you can have different colour panels. Please note we cannot put any gloss or textured leathers on the inside panel for obvious reasons. For the inside panel the options are any matte leather or the waxy nubuck leathers.
Heel or toe - use any leathers from the entire collection although bear in mind a gloss leather on the toe will scratch easily and a textured leather will be smoother as it has to stretch across the foot shape (or you wouldn't get your foot in).
Piping can be added to the top edge, the toe and some other stitched areas but this varies from model to model (please ask during your consultation).
Full length zip covers can only be in matte or textured leather. We do not suggest suede based or gloss leathers here as they will wear much more with suede getting particularly dirty. We have of course put these leathers here but the client does so at their own risk.
The back edge spine (on dressage models only) you can select any leather of your choice. However, it is worth noting that depending on your riding style, if your toe turns outwards, a gloss or textured leather isn't advised as you will rub it.
Not all models will have all of these panels so please do ask during your consultation.
HARDWARE
Logo pins - silver, gold or rose gold.

View the options here.
MONOGRAMMING- add any logo design or initials to your boots. These are laser printed so can be detailed and intricate. We have also added initials in crystals.
The most popular place is the straps and depending on the model will determined the size we can do. The other options are the heel or the top below any design you have added.
Please note this is all done by hand so if you have ocd you might want to think again as they do not use spirit levels in the workshop :-)
SHEEPSKIN LINING
Add hypo-allergenic and antibacterial sheepskin lining to your boots, either the entire boot or just the foot. Read more about this here.
With in excess of 110 colours (growing monthly), 24 tops (more coming soon), 10 toes and endless ways to customise and combine all these options creating your own unique boot isn't very difficult but might just take some time to decide....
SOLES
Composite rubber soles - which are virtually indestructible and are by far the favoured option are available in black and brown.
LACES
Diogo models, ankle laces - black and brown
Bia laces - black, brown, red, white. Limited edition, pastel blue, royal blue, raspberry and aqua (available upon request).
WHICH MODELS, WHICH OPTIONS?
Bia collection - all of the above options are available with the exception of the full length zip covers.
Bia Sport is classed as a back zip boot and therefore options as per the Diogo collection below.
Polo collection - all of the above options. Full length zip covers cannot be used on Passage Dressage. Sheepskin foot only advised. Hooks not an option.
Passage collection - all of the above options are available except the full length zip covers. Sheepskin foot only advised. Hooks not an option.
Diogo collection - all of the above options with the exception of the back edge spine, full length zip covers. Sheepskin foot only advised. Hooks not an option.
We can cut an inside panel on a Diogo model but we rarely do this unless someone has chosen a textured leather as the base colour. The Diogo collection is best created in matte leathers, reserving all the textured and gloss options for the top style and accessories only.

It all began with our iconic range of custom handmade-to-measure tall boots and custom short boots and over the years we added custom accessories. During 2020 we added brushing boots to our collection of beautiful things and more will be coming in 2021 but in the meantime here are the products you can customise to your hearts content with multiple colours, sheepskin lining and monogramming!
SHORT BOOTS AND BIA COUNTRY BOOTS
Our short boots or Bia Country Boots are super comfortable and made in our workshop using the same leathers and components as our tall boots and importantly with the same hands! It is possible to customise any panel on the boot (the number of panels will depend on the model) with any colour leather. A very popular customisation is to use one colour on the main part of the boot and use a contrasting or matching textured leather on the heel and toe.
Due to the cut of the leather on the Bia Country Boots the only option for a second colour is on the back-edge stripe.
Options: sheepskin lining and monogramming (initials or even a logo).
BRUSHING BOOTS & OVER-REACH BOOTS
The brushing boots can be made in up to 3 colours, the base, the leather on the elasticated straps and the reinforced panel (however, we only recommend matte leather here as it will get scratched!). The most popular option is for the base and straps to be in one colour and the reinforced panel in another but you can use 3 different colours!
The over-reach boots have three areas to customise too, the base of the boot, the Velcro strap on the front and the piping on the bottom edge!
Options: sheepskin (black or natural) or neoprene lining, monograming on the straps (not all leathers are suitable).
DECK SHOES
Select up to 2 colours for the deck shoes, one for the base of the shoes and the other for the section where the laces thread through. The most popular option is just one leather but of course the choice is yours!
BELTS
Choose any colour in the collection with the option to add the belt loop in a matching or contrast leather.
To measure for our belts - measure an existing belt, end to end, excluding the buckle. We find this the most accurate way to get the correct size!
Options: silver or gold buckle
SPUR STRAPS & PROTECTORS
Available in any colours in the collection and you can buy as a set or separately. As a set the you can use two different colours for the straps and for the protectors too.
Options: silver or gold buckle

]]>You would think that choosing the colour of your boots was the hardest part and you’d probably be right but after the model, colours and accents comes the toe cap and who’d have thought that might be a drama …
At last count we had 12 toe cap options and usually when a client is presented with these there is an audible inward groan as in most cases this hasn’t been considered and now they are presented with 12 – which doesn’t really seem a lot does it? Or does it?
Here’s our quick round up of the toes on offer …
No stitching – usually chosen by those with a smaller foot and nearly always on the Bia collection as there is quite a bit going on with the laces. In most cases this is the preferred look for the Passage and those wanting to maintain a traditional look.
Plain – double row of plain stitching and our suggestion for the those preferring a more contemporary look for the Polo or those choosing the Polo as a competition boot.
Brogue – the most popular option for stitching on the toe and always a very popular addition to the toe cap of the rear zip boots. Adding just a little detailing and enough pizzazz to keep the more modest riders happy and not terrified they’ve gone too far.
Heart-shaped – a new style added in 2016 and whilst not as popular as the straight brogue, is growing in popularity. A very personal statement and can be both double stitching or brogue in detail. Looks best with the floral punched toe.
Floral punching – The floral toe cap looks best when chosen with another toe cap. On its own it can look a bit like something is missing.
Piping – a contrasting leather can be added to the straight stitched toe caps. Not so popular and can make cleaning tricky if you have chosen a light leather against a dark one.
Which do we love? We love them all of course but currently brogue with floral punched toe is bang-on-trend and 1 in 4 clients are choosing this option! Like every trend this changes with the season and we’ll evolve as trends do and keep you on your toes at all times!

WHAT EXACTLY ARE SAMPLE BOOTS?
These will generally be brand new boots that are available as they have been samples in our studio (we do change our stock regularly), they may also be duplicates of orders (which does happen too often), they could also be orders that have arrived with, for instance, the wrong stitching (and we have remade the original order) and very occasionally the boots may have arrived with a small blemish (or mark) that will not affect the performance or longevity of the boots.
The accurate information will be on the individual sale page and any blemishes will be described.
WILL THEY FIT ME?
Foot size:
Go by your usual foot size even if we advertise a sheepskin foot (an allowance has already been made for this).
Insoles are available, which will reduce the foot size by ½ a size generally.
Calf size:
Measure your calf at the widest part on both legs.
Nb: If you measure in tall socks this will add 1cm, more or less, to your measurements. It might be a good idea to measure twice, with and without tall socks. You will then potentially have two measurements and could well be the difference between fitting in a pair of sample boots or not.
Measuring the calf for boots with full length laces and without.
For laced boots: these boots are adjustable to be made wider rather than slimmer. The individual product page will provide a guide to the widest point. Nb. We always suggest taking the smallest measurement (without tall socks) and adjust them outwards if necessary.
For boots without laces or elastic: The calf measurement is fixed and will not stretch. The individual product page will provide the widest point possible for the calf. Nb. Removing tall socks will provide a smaller measurement.
Height:
It’s best to measure an existing pair of boots to confirm your preferred height or refer to our guide below. If you measure an existing pair, measure the back seam excluding the boot heel. We do sell heel risers if required.
HOW ACCURATE DO I NEED TO BE?
FOOT SIZE: Always go with your regular foot size or use the insoles to reduce by 1/2 size. If you have a wide footbed, still go with the regular shoe size you would choose.
CALF:
With laced boots allow only that they can be bigger not smaller.
All models without laces or elastic are not adjustable so need to match your calf measurement. If your calf measurement is bigger than the advertised size you will not fit into the boots.
HEIGHT
Our boots do not drop too much so going with the measurement from an existing pair of boots is the most accurate way to know your height. Heel risers are available here.
REMEMBER THEY ARE SAMPLE BOOTS
They will not be your precise size. However, they may fit you like a glove and as if they were made for you (!) or they may not be totally perfect but still almost perfect!
We cannot alter the measurements of any sale boots, however AB Leatherwork based in the UK offer a solution and we highly recommend them for such alterations.
REFUNDS
UK - We will accept refunds but we will not provide shipping labels or refund the original shipping or credit card fees. Please email the studio before returning any sample boots.
OUTSIDE THE UK - We cannot accept refunds from outside the UK due to the complications of importing returned times
It is worth noting that we have only ever had a handful of sample boots returned in over 13 years and they have almost all been as they have not actually read the advertised measurements (due to excitement - oops!)
Therefore, please do check your measurements carefully before purchasing to avoid any returns.
IMPORT TAXES ON SAMPLE BOOTS
Outside of the UK your purchases may be subject to import taxes and this is not something we can calculate or advise you on.

]]>Thank you so much for choosing celeris! Whilst it is very exciting to get them on, please do read this first!
Very Important!
How should they feel?
It may well be that your boots feel really tight and you think that they don’t fit – don’t panic! Usually within ten minutes of wearing them they will ease off.
Depending on the leather some boots can be stiffer than others, they just need breaking in. The Polo boot can be particularly tricky for the first fitting! We have a rule of thumb if you zip them up, however tight initially, they fit! During the summer months it is best to try the boots on first thing in the morning too, especially if they were tight in the afternoon or after a period of sitting down.
Remember if you have the Bia model the laces are adjustable (including over the foot) so you can adjust them to fit more comfortably whilst breaking them in and tighten them up in the future if necessary.
Once you have the zips up, walk around for ten minutes and within this time the zip will have relaxed and will be much easier to move up and down. Be careful of the zips for the first week whilst the leather relaxes, but after that they will be pretty much perfect!
During production the boots go onto a mould of your legs with the precise measurements programmed. They are heated and cooled to your precise measurements and checked by laser at this stage. When they come off the mould there is an element of shrinkage depending on the leather used and once you are in the boots they will warm up to you and the true measurements very quickly – usually within ten minutes. Clients in the studio will comment within a few minutes about how they have eased from the initial tightness.
If you have purchased more than one pair and they are different models or different leathers, they could feel very different - initially. Each model varies in shape and fit and each leather will stretch differently. We account for this in the workshop and allow for the stretch of each different leather so some leathers will feel tighter than others. Once broken in and again, this will be different depending on the model and leather, they should feel perfect!
If you have any issues, don’t panic, please call us first! We are here to help and no issue is too big or too small to resolve easily.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS THE WARRANTY PERIOD?
The warranty period is 90 days from receipt of your boots. Most ‘manufacturing faults’ would show up instantly and most definitely within this period of time. With 14 years’ experience we know that most genuine manufacturing faults will show up during the first week or within a month and thankfully they are very rare.
Due to the extremes and variations in the usage of riding boots, no warranty is offered against wear and tear, negligence or poor maintenance resulting in any fault.
WHAT MIGHT FAIL DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD?
ZIPS. If a zip were to fail as it is faulty, it would fail almost instantly or within days of riding in your new boots, not 6-12 months down the line after being used for this period of time.
PRESS BUTTONS. Will also fail instantly within the first week or two if there is an issue with the hardware.
STITCHING. Whilst this would be beyond rare, if faulty this would show up instantly and not over time.
The inside panel is worth noting here. You will never be able to keep this totally clean or wrinkle free. This is absolutely normal and most riders would know that this panel cannot be kept perfect and therefore is no warranty offered on this section at all.
IMPORTANT NOTE
We will repair any boots with a genuine manufacturing fault at any point and regardless of the 90-day warranty but we will assess the boots in all such incidences and will make no such offer when this is simply down to wear and tear.
AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD HAS ENDED
After 6 to 12 months any issues that may occur would be due to the fact this is a hard wear and tear work boot and as such will work under stress most days you are riding. The care and maintenance is imperative and if you do not look after your boots they will not last as long as they should.
Avoid allowing your boots to get soaking wet, covered in mud etc without cleaning them and waxing them as you are simply adding to the stress on the leather. You should also be cleaning out your zips regularly (see our care guide) as sand is a zip killer.
With the experience we have a the very low number of returns received (when we consider the sheer number of boots we make) we know that care is key and when we see boots returned to us soaking wet and in a terrible state we know they have not been looked after regardless of being told they have been.
As a conscientious and passionate manufacturer, we know our boots will last many years if cared for correctly and as a rider you will know from your own experience how long your boots would usually last when you take into consideration your personal wear and tear. We are confident given the superior leather and components we use that they will go beyond expectations, but these must be realistic.
THE COLOUR DOESN’T LOOK EXACTLY WHAT I ORDERED?
All leather will vary very slightly in colour and texture.
All of our leather is natural and only pigment dyed, no chemicals are used for colour uniformity and hence colours will vary very slightly from skin to skin. As per our terms and conditions of sale we can’t ever guarantee the exact colour but any differences are usually indistinguishable.
Whilst on social media we take great care not to add filters, colours will never look exactly as they do in the flesh due mainly to different screen resolutions etc.
MARKS AND GRAINS IN THE LEATHER
Whilst great care is made to ensure your boots reach you in pristine condition, they are entirely handmade by skilled artisans and will not always look ‘absolutely perfect’ due to the traditional way in which they are made and how they are handled during production. Minor imperfections, marks and grains are often part of the character of the superior leather we use, can usually be polished out over time and will not affect the fit, performance or longevity of your boots.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY BOOTS DON’T FIT?
Unless we have measured you personally in the studio, we are not responsible for the measurements provided, as per all documentation supplied prior to purchase, including DocuSign which clarifies all of our terms and conditions of sale.
When we have measured you - In the exceptionally rare case that the workshop (or ourselves) has made a mistake, we will rectify the issue at our cost. Please notify us immediately, so we can organise this right away, to avoid any unnecessary delay. We may ask you to attend the studio to be remeasured if measurements are in question.
Whilst even rarer, where a client gains/loses significant weight between the measuring date and the new boot fitting, Celeris UK will not accept any liability for ill-fitting boots. In such instances the responsibility lies solely with the client. However, we offer a superior fitting service and insignificant differences in measurements (between fitting and delivery) will make no difference to the fit of your boots.
Where you have supplied measurements – in the first instance try on the boots first thing in the morning and wear your thinnest breeches and only ankle socks. If you have BIA boots please adjust the laces – so many clients forget to do this and it’s what they are there for. Some clients will adjust the laces during the breaking in period and do them back up again once they are broken in. Always adjust the laces when you are not wearing the boots as it’s very, very difficult if they are on your legs.
In almost all cases it is usually about getting into the boots the first time and once in you are off! The rule of thumb really is, if you are in and zip them up - they fit and you just need to start breaking them in so soften and relax them. Clients new to custom boots may not be prepared for how tight they are and that they need to be broken in.
But I can’t get in my boots – if in the worst instance you can’t get into your boots and the measurements supplied were not accurate, you will be responsible for returning the boots to the UK and in this instance they need to be sent back under a strict protocol due the boots re-entering the UK and we will provide all the information required to do so.
We would ask you to remeasure and send the these to us to view. At this stage we really do need to see the true measurements to ensure we can make the correct decision going forward. We only want perfect boots so the accuracy of these measurements is key.
We have found in a few instances in the past, clients adding and taking away cm during the original fitting and our checklist specifically says not to do this. We have also had instances of clients reading the tape measure incorrectly and starting at 1cm instead of zero!
WILL MY BOOTS DROP?
All boots will drop, on average, by 1cm and mainly because you will need to bend your ankle – ankle wrinkles are normal. Please note that the dressage models (with reinforced outer panel) are unlikely to drop, due mainly to the fact your ankle doesn’t really bend too much.
WHAT IF MY BOOTS ARE TOO HIGH?
We take considerable time to ensure the right height during the fitting process. We do not ‘add’ additional cm to allow for the drop, as this can prove to be very uncomfortable for our clients. Measured correctly your boots should be perfect and remain perfect after they have dropped 1-1.5 cm. If you have requested the boots to be higher than we would recommend, we will ask you to sign the order form to confirm this. In this instance we would suggest heel risers to help if they are too high when they arrive. Whilst we are happy to make your boots to your exact requirements, including the height, Celeris UK won’t take any responsibility for the height measurement where you have requested a height higher than our recommendation.
During our due diligence we send out a checklist to all clients supplying measurements and do make it very clear the height is the one thing we can never alter.
WILL MY BOOTS TAKE LONG TO ‘BREAK IN’?
Most clients will say their boots are beautiful and comfortable from day one. However, the leather does vary from boot to boot and some boots will take longer as the leather may be marginally thicker. The length of time will also depend on how often you wear your boots. The only real way of breaking your boots in is to ride in them! Walking about the house or yard won’t really mimic your riding position so will take much longer.
Passage, Polo and Bia boots take longer to ‘break in’ mainly due to the fact they are a substantial boot and have reinforced panels. Having said this, clients with these boots do report that on average, after 2-3 weeks they feel perfect.
Read our breaking in guide here.
HOW LONG WILL MY BOOTS LAST?
It is impossible to try to estimate this as all riders use and care for their boots very differently. Professionals will ride a large number of horses a day, whereas a hobby rider may only ride at the weekends so obviously there will be a huge difference in the life of boots purchased at the same time. It is our advice to look after your boots, as recommended, to maximize their life.
DO YOU HAVE ISSUES WITH ZIPS?
Generally, we do not have issues with our zips due mainly to the superior fit - each boot is made to fit each leg and in particular the calf area.
It is very common for the calf to vary significantly on a rider. This variation can be as much as 2cm and is usually because a rider favours one side of their body more or has had an accident at some point in the past. This is very normal and hence the reason it is important that the boots are made to take this variation into account, to avoid stress on the zips.
WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE MY BOOTS AND WANT A REFUND?
In the highly unlikely event that you are not delighted with your boots, we cannot offer any form of refund or credit note. However, please do not hesitate to contact us in the first instance to discuss.
As per our Terms and Conditions of Sale, Celeris boots are bespoke and handcrafted to order and therefore, your order is exempt from the Distance Selling Regulations and, as such, refunds cannot be given (and we are not legally required to refund), in respect of any made-to-measure products for any reason.
DO YOU HAVE AN AFTERSALES DEPARTMENT FOR MINOR REPAIRS IN THE FUTURE?
Whilst we do send boots back to the workshop for any repairs, within the warranty period, we do not find this is the most effective way for minor issues outside of the warranty period. Due to the high cost of shipping, insurance and the extended timescales, we recommend researching a local saddlery, who specialise in leather goods. Please contact us if you do need a minor repair as we can usually recommend someone in your area.

WHAT DO I DO IF I HAVE ISSUES ON DELIVERY OR WITHIN WARRANTY PERIOD?
In the first instance give us a call or alternatively send us an email. Most issues can be resolved quickly and easily! Please remember we are here to help!

]]>A perfect fit starts and ends with perfect measurements.
]]>We realise that we talk about this subject a lot but the perfect fit, along with pure quality, is the basis of our brand - of our beautiful end product. We are unique in that how we make our boots, how we handcraft every boot, both the left boot and the right – it is our uniqueness, we embrace this and we won’t change it.
When a client supplies their measurements we will literally scrutinise them for imperfections, which, with so much experience, becomes rather obvious. We will check and triple-check any areas of concern before finally settling on the magic numbers. Possibly the hardest measurement is the height. In the studio this is a process of elimination using our height cuff, but at home, and without our expertise, this is a tad trickier but all is not lost as we guide you through this too with the aid of an old pair of boots as the guide.
Ultimately, we would never process an order where we were unsure that the measurements were as accurate as possible. Likewise, if there were to be a minor issue (it certainly wouldn’t be more than a tweak), we would assist you, without question, and resolve in whatever way was required. You can rest assured that we will be there until the #perfectfit is achieved whether, we measured you or not. It is worth noting that any minor fluctuations in weight will not affect the overall fit of boot, they just might not be a super-tight as we make them (which might not be a bad thing some might say).
If you have made an error in the measurements we will help resolve any issues but you will be responsible for the shipping costs to the studio and the return postage to you, if we need to have the boots back. This really would be less than a handful a year and generally measurements have changed (because every single one has changed) or as we have discovered lately, clients have 'added an allowance' and this really is a no no and we do make that clear. Follow the guide precisely and you can't go wrong.
So if you can’t physically make it to the studio, download our guide and follow every single step (because we know when you haven’t) and read the ‘important’ section – twice, before grabbing a helper (and getting them to read everything too) and setting aside and hour (or a few) whilst you fiddle with the tape measure in the pursuit of perfection.
THINGS YOU MUST AND MUST NOT DO WHEN MEASURING:
You must not measure yourself (ever) because you can't. Your muscles move as you do and this could be the difference between fitting and not.
You must use sticky tape. Do not guess where you measured on the leg. Some clients use very stretchy elastic bands to pull into place before measuring! We don't recommend this at all if they are too tight and uncomfortable but this has worked successfully for many.
You must not add cm or make any 'allowances' - at all. Measure precisely as requested. We make any allowances required as all of our leathers will have a different level of stretch and only we know this. This is particularly important with any boots with sheepskin!
If you do want to be sure they are not tight measure in a thicker pair of socks but do be prepared to wear those socks if necessary.
You must start the tape measure from ZERO. You would be surprised how many start at 1 ....
You must not be twisting to look at the person measuring. Stand tall, look up and forward at all times.
You must check the height! This is the one we cannot alter under any circumstances. As a double check, if you have any existing pair that are perfect, measure the back seam end to end (you do not need to follow the contours just measure straight up) and excluding the heel. Use this as a guide or as the height measurement if you know they are perfect for you.
WHAT IF AFTER ALL THIS I HAVE GOT IT WRONG?
We are here to help but please do remember we are a super small company, the same people that have tried super hard to provide perfect boots for you, are the ones you will be emailing.
Your boots will have been checked by laser before they left us so they are the precise measurements supplied.
The first thing we will ask for is for you to try again with your thinnest breeches and ankle socks. Then to sit down when trying them on, this changes the shape of your calf making it much easier.
If they still won't fit we will request a new set of measurements and will then offer lots of options.
Please do not despair but we do ask you to be calm and trust our process :-) We are unique in that we truly care about our clients and their ultimate satisfaction and we are just as disappointed as you if there is an issue on arrival. Thankfully this is so so rare due to our due diligence prior to placing the order!
SO if you follow the guide we can say there will a far far less chance they won't fit :-)

A sheepskin lining really can be a gamechanger for those with sensitive feet as much for those who want added warmth!
If I ever listened to our old studio manager Iona on her zooms she never failed to ask if the client would like a sheepskin foot or full sheepskin lining - always referring to sheepskin as a gamechanger for comfort! Since Iona had sheepskin in her first pair of Bia boots some years ago, all subsequent pairs have had a sheepskin foot – “they are like wearing ugg boots,” she regularly commented and we also now know from clients who have had a sheepskin foot that they too think it’s a gamechanger and always add it to future pairs!
Sheepskin keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer – however, for extremely hot and tropical climates we probably wouldn’t recommend sheepskin for comfort during the hottest summer months! We can, however, report that clients regularly tell us that they do not get overly hot and clammy usually on a what we would consider a regular hot summer day. You would normally know yourself if you do suffer with hot feet in the summer so this should be your guide to whether they are truly suitable for you.
MEASUREMENTS (IMPORTANT)
If you are supplying your measurements via zoom or our online order form, please do not add on extra cm or change your regular shoe size as all allowances for the additional sizing required to allow for the bulk of the sheepskin is completed in the workshop.
FULL SHEEPSKIN LINING OR JUST THE FOOT?
Just the foot
We can line the foot in sheepskin and this encases the entire foot (it’s not just the insole). This is a brilliant option if you suffer with cold or sensitive feet but don’t need a full sheepskin boot and in all honesty, this is the most popular option.
We regularly recommend this lining for those buying a reinforced boot too for added comfort and for those buying a harder polished leather if we know they do struggle with new shoes or boots! That said we do have clients who know they get blisters and sore feet with new leather shoes or boots who will opt for the sheepskin foot regardless of the model or leather they have chosen.
Adding sheepskin to the foot £40
Full sheepskin lining
We line the entire inside of the boots. Clients living in extremely cold climates or who suffer with chilblains will often opt for the full boot to be lined. We can also leave out the inside panel to allow a closer contact with your horse but please do ask for this when ordering as they will come fully-lined as standard otherwise and the sheepskin cannot be removed after.
Adding sheepskin to the entire boot £90
Note: We can also offer full sheepskin lining excluding the inside panel which sits against the horse. Please do request this when you order.
ORDERING FOR WINTER
You do need to place your order no later than August to receive your boots December / January. If your winter season begins sooner please allow at least 12 weeks as the workshop closes during August each year so you need to plan ahead especially for the winter months!
Note: Sheepskin in either the foot or leg cannot be added once your boots have been made.

]]>Choosing the fastening on your boots can also be quite a challenge but possibly the easiest of all the choices offered during your fitting or whilst sitting at home (or the yard) rummaging through our website and social media pages.
With all models that have rear zips the fastenings are top and bottom - protecting the zip and the style of these cannot be changed. However, that said you do still have a few options from using a different co-ordinating leather on both small straps or mixing it up and having a different colour top and bottom and you could add small initials too – small but unique to you.
Front zip models you do have a few more choices from short strap and popper (snap), long strap and popper (snap) to a long strap and buckle. Even the buckles create yet more choices - silver, silver with diamanté, gold, gold with diamanté, antique black and antique gold. Each option adds a different style and feel to your boot from traditional, contemporary and modern.
For a minimalist and traditional look opt for the small strap and popper, for a modern twist add the long strap and popper and for a contemporary look opt for the buckles.
Here’s our quick guide:
Bia
Straps are personal choice of course but clients who want to create the illusion of the longest leg length possible always opt for the small strap and popper, which sits across the zip but not across the laces. It is also the best option if you you want to be able to open the boots as wide as possible as it doesn't sit across the laces and is set in length. With this option the full length of lacing is on full displayed and will make any leg, regardless of size, look deceptively long! Opting for the long straps will most certainly not ‘shorten’ the overall appearance as the laced boots lengthen any leg line regardless. It's worth noting that the long straps cover the laces and many clients choose this option to keep the overall look 'neater' although with any option chosen put the laces to the inside of the boots so they are not showing at all.
Polo & Polo Passage
The Polo is a real chameleon with each fastening option changing the overall style completely. With the option of two straps and buckles being the most chosen and most casual option, you can also choose either the long strap and popper (snap) for a contemporary modern look or short strap and popper (snap) for the traditional option and the most popular for competition boots. A bottom strap will not interfere with spur straps and protectors but for a less fussy look (or you prefer clean lines) opt for just the one top strap.
Passage
The short strap and popper is almost always the first choice. However, the long strap and popper (snap) and buckle has proved popular over the past 6 months and creates a gorgeous top line finish and a more contemporary style.
As with any other choices you are making during your design period, email or call us in the studio at anytime to discuss the creation of your beautiful boots - no question will be too much trouble and many clients spend a lot of time discussing options with us before nailing down their final design!

The straps can be personalised with initials, a logo or even your horse's name! However, this is really only advisable on matte leathers as it is rarely very effective on patterns or textured leather and is an additional cost.

From time to time we will add sample boots to the online store. Prepare your measurements in advance so you can take advantage of these one-off or flash sample sales.
Sample sales happen when we re-organise the studio, when we inadvertently order duplicate boots (arghhhh) or when a boot arrives and isn’t quite perfect (very rare) and we have organised a remake.
How to know what size you are
The first thing you need to do is put your breeches on (or whatever you ride in) along with your long socks (if you wear long socks when you ride). Then grab a friend and a tape measure!
Open up the measuring guide (link below) and read through the checklist. Then take down your measurements in cms - 1 (foot length) USA & Canada only so you can convert to UK / EU sizing, 7 (calf) and 12 (height). These are the only measurements we really need for our sample boots.
Below is a guide (although not scientific), to convert cm to EU and UK shoe sizing - you can give or take a few millimetres but always go up if unsure!
We can also supply a form fitting insole that will reduce any shoe size advertised by 1/2 a shoe size and we will include a pair with all boots sold.
It would be incredibly rare that we had anything in a larger size.
Fit guide per model
Here are our sizing guides for our 4 signature models, which are important to know. It is worth bearing in mind that a long pair of socks will usually add at least 1cm to your calf measurement – try it and see!
The Bia and flex models (with elastic panel)
Whilst flexible we would only recommend going 1.5cm above or 1cm below the advertised calf size. Boots with laces will open 3 - 4 cms more than the advertised calf size BUT they won’t look so good if opened up fully.
Passage, Polo & Diogo
Stick strictly to the advertised calf size or 1 to 1.5 cm lower. If lower you can add a long sock if necessary but do not go above the calf size as these will not stretch.
Existing clients!
Please do use the guide above to work out your current measurements - we have so many clients asking for us to supply their measurements that it’s impossible for us to check for everyone. We are so sorry but we get inundated with requests and it’s just impossible. Remember these are not made-to-measure so are not going to fit absolutely perfectly like your existing boots (although they might!).
FAQ’s
Will you accept returns?
We will but they must come back in perfect condition and the zip must not be broken. We do not refund any shipping or pay for the shipping back to us. Please do not ship anything back to us without contacting us first as clients in the USA and Canada must follow strict protocol when returning items to the UK or the package will not be accepted in the studio and will be returned to sender.
It’s worth noting that we have only ever had one pair of sample boots returned ever so using the guide to work out your measurements works!
What if I do break the zip putting them on?
It means they were too small for you or you have broken them getting into them and we will not accept a return.
Do they come with a guarantee?
We will guarantee them just as we would for any new tall boot.
Can I buy your boots if I am not in the UK, USA or Canada?
We will ship to any address in Europe with the exception of Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands and France. We will not ship outside of Europe other than to USA and Canada.
What are the shipping rates?
Covid has affected all shipping rates and delivery times. This is mainly due to less transportation being available be that by road or air. However, these are the current prices and delivery times.
UK - £20 next day delivery with Parcelforce, although they are not currently guaranteeing it most do arrive next day but please allow 3 working days.
Europe - £40 fully tracked and insured, allow 3-5 working days.
USA & Canada - £85 per pair by courier with insurance, allow 3-5 days.

We’ve grown a lot in the last ten years, and so has our boot model collection. Our boots are all handmade-to-measure, and we’re proud that our clients have hundreds of options for customisation and detailing. Out of the many variations we’ve made and delivered over the years, all of our boots are founded on four models – the Bia, the Passage, the Polo and the Diogo.
This year – our tenth anniversary year in fact – we have looked very carefully at how we name our boot models and taken on your feedback. We’ve renamed some of our boots so that they are now named and categorised based on our four signature models. We hope this makes it easier to navigate all of our beautiful boot options and choose the perfect fit for you.
THE BIA FAMILY
Simply stunning lace-up boots with discreet full-length zipper.
Our iconic and most revered model boot (and most imitated model) was designed in 2009. The Bia (pronounced bee-a) is a work of art, with support and structure coupled with so much style. The eye-catching lacing provides flexibility as well as the illusion of the longest leg line possible. It is available with both regular panels and a reinforced outer panel, although regular panels are still firm and very supportive.
Is the Bia for me?
It is a boot for dressage generally, but has been seen flying across the countryside also! The Bia is accepted for dressage competitions in the UK, and these clients tend to opt for black or navy and where we blend the hooks with the leather for a more subtle effect.
Whatever size calf you have, the Bia creates length and a slimming effect with the laces drawing the eyes upward. Clients love the ability to alter the sizing and it’s the model we recommend if you want to add full sheepskin to your boots. The Bia acts like a girdle pulling you in and offering just the right amount of support – a little like spanx for your calves! The flexibility is also perfect for those that might not want the tightness usually associated with breaking in new boots, as the Bia gives you the option to take the pressure off and then tighten again when you are happy you’ve broken them in enough.
The Bia collection
Bia – the original model with an off-centre discreet front zipper, sealed hooks and laces. Our most loved and best-selling model.
Bia Day (formerly the Bella) – a relaxed version of the Bia created with lace eyelets rather than hooks for a slightly more casual look and feel to this super model.
Bia Sport (formerly the Rita) – our lace-up model with a rear zipper. Still preferred by many including those that jump, and those that want even more comfort practically from day one*. Can be created with either hooks or eyelets but cannot be reinforced.
Bia half chaps – the beauty of the Bia available as half chaps with or without reinforced outer panel. Available to customise just as you would the regular Bia.
*Depending on the leather chosen.
THE PASSAGE FAMILY
The stylish dressage boot.
Our signature and most traditional dressage model, has a streamlined silhouette and sleek contours. The Passage is the first choice for those wanting a simple and elegant boot for pure dressage, although many use the Passage Day (formerly the Olivia) for almost every discipline. Available with or without reinforced outer panel although the regular panels are still very firm and not for the faint-hearted.
Is the Passage for me?
It can be a little daunting to most dressage boot newbies so we are very careful to understand a client’s requirements before recommending this boot. If you are used to a hard dressage boot you will simply love this model - we are told reliably by such clients and professionals that these are a dream to break in! If you love the style but not the rigid feel opt for the Passage Day.
Is the Passage Day for me?
If you love the traditional style of a true dressage boot but want softness and comfort (usually associated with a rear zip boot), as well as a supportive and elegant boot for use every day- this is your model!
Is the Passage Compete for me?
Designed as a pure competition boot or for those most definitely used to a hard dressage boot for everyday use. Usually preferred by those competing regularly and professional riders.
The Passage collection
Passage – a reinforced tradition dressage model, which will feel super firm and will need some breaking in. The outer panel is very firm and not what we would usually suggest as a first dressage boot unless you are prepared to spend some time adapting to the new feel and the additional breaking in required.
Passage Day (formerly the Olivia) – originally designed as a soft version of the Passage, with the same traditional styling. The Passage Day has softer edges and can be super soft or very firm depending on the leather chosen. It will feel much like the supremely comfortable Diogo but with the added benefits of the front off-centre zipper.
Passage Compete - the firmest of all our Passage family with a super hard reinforced outer panel. Almost identical to the Passage in style but with slightly different stitching around the heel, which most wouldn’t notice but as it’s all in the detail, and we added some extra detail!
Passage chaps - Available with or without reinforced outer panel. Available to customise just as you would the regular Passage.
THE POLO FAMILY
A contemporary dressage model.
Our most fashionable model is a true multi-tasker and performs in just about any discipline. The Polo is firm and structured, giving fabulous support for dressage, but whip off the bottom strap and you have a contemporary jumping boot! The Polo is a front zip model available with regular panels or opt for the Polo Passage with a reinforced outer panel, and a more flexible ankle than the Passage. Designed generally with buckles, which can be switched out for straps with poppers if desired.
Is the Polo for me?
If you have a high instep avoid this model as the zip sits above the heel arch and this may mean this could be irritating. If jumping in the Polo or Polo Flex, choose a top strap only or a popper.
The Polo collection
Polo – our contemporary riding boot with central zip. Opt for two straps with buckles, or short or long top strap with poppers (snap).
Polo Flex (formerly the cici) - identical to the Polo but with a discreet panel for added flexibility.
Polo Passage - with a reinforced outer panel and created with an external zip so you can open the zip completely (a bit like a jacket) making it easier to take on or off.
Polo half chaps - available with or without reinforced outer panel. Available to customise just as you would the regular Polo.
DIOGO FAMILY
Our signature range of jumping models.
Our signature jumping model also doubles-up as a smart and soft dressage boot. The Diogo is a streamlined and elegant boot without detailing, but customisation could include adding laces at the ankle, a different coloured top or fancy detailing on the toe. Ideal for those wanting a chic, multi-purpose boot.
Is the Diogo for me?
This rear zip boot is created from one piece of leather wrapped around your leg without the structure of panels in the front zip models. If you are looking for a comfortable boot from day one with a supportive ankle and soft foot bed, the Diogo is for you. Traditionally for show jumping, many clients buy for dressage as a soft boot with very little breaking in required! Whilst the softest boot in our collection, the Diogo is still supportive and not at all floppy or flimsy! It’s worth noting a rear zip boot will accentuate the calf more.
The Diogo collection
Diogo - our signature jumping model. A simply stunning, close-contact boot. We don’t recommend gloss or polished leathers on the Diogo, simply because they don’t mould to the leg as well as a matte leather will on this model. Instead opt for the glossy and sparkly leathers for accents.
Diogo Brogue (formerly the Cate) - with heart shaped brogue detailing.
Diogo Pé (formerly the Marije) - with elegant piping on the ankle and higher stitching over the ankle/heel arch the foot is the feature of the Diogo Pé ( Pé meaning foot in Portuguese).
Diogo Sport (formerly the Ana) - with laces added to the ankle.
Diogo Sport Flex (formerly the Santiago) - with discreet panel added for some flexibility.
Diogo Half Chaps - same sleek design in half chaps with a back zip and available with or without flex panel.

THE CONSULTATION
For new clients and existing clients where we already have their measurements.
ALL ZOOMS ARE BST (BRITISH SUMMER TIME OR GMT)
We will discuss all things beautiful boots and decide what the best options are for you. We will spend our zoom time just as we would in the studio, taking time to consider the equestrian that you are and what you need from your boots. From your equestrian discipline to your local climate (USA & Canada) and from whether you ride indoors all year to how much time you want to spend breaking your boots in – and almost everything in between.
We strive to understand as much as possible so that we can advise you of the very best models to consider along with the best leather to put on those models. All of our questions are so important to ensure that we get you into the right boots for you. Very often a client will be set on a particular boot to deciding on a totally different model, for the right reasons, once we have completed our zoom. With over ten years’ experience, we know how each model will feel with each different leather type applied and why it’s incredibly important that we understand your expectations. Looking at a beautiful boot is one thing, stepping into it for the first time can be quite another so we want you to know exactly how that will feel. Stepping into a suede boot on a rear zip boot will feel totally different to a suede boot on a Bia boot and a suede vs a polished leather is a whole new ball game too. It is only by taking the time to analyse your expectations that we can be as sure as possible that we are giving you the very best advice based on our extensive experience.
During this time and depending on the time of day, we will also show you swatches and examples where possible. If the light is not permitting, we will put together samples the following day to email to you. There really is no rush to complete your order and the team will be on hand to help until you make your final decision. Some clients know what they want right away whilst others may take a month (or more) – we want you to decide in your own time as ultimately the final decision is yours to make!
After the zoom consultation
Once you have made your final decision you can take your time to prepare your measurements and submit your order online or book another zoom where we can go through your measurements in person. However, even if you email your measurements to us, we will still scrutinize them, often ask for a re-measure or confirmation and finally send you a checklist to sign off. If we really are unsure of any measurements, we will request a zoom so we can see for ourselves and lend a hand.
Our rule of thumb is, if you take your measurements and they are identical for each leg then you have done a great job as you can’t make that up! If there is a slight variation of a half to 1cm between legs this is totally normal for an equestrian as we often favour one side more! Finally, if they are very different this is often caused by an accident of some description so we would just be more cautious to triple check the measurements. Ultimately, we make each boot to fit each leg so once we are set on the measurements your boots we are good to go!
Cost: there are no costs to book a zoom. However, where a client cancels without notice we will send an invoice for £50 for any subsequent appointment made but this cost will be fully refundable against any order. There is absolutely no pressure to buy and this really is an informal chat, although by the end most clients want their boots instantly ….
A CONSULTATION WITH MEASUREMENTS
For new clients and existing clients who have prepared measurements in advance
All of the above but we take the time to scrutinise the measurements too. We do feel having one set of measurements to work off is the very best option as we can then run through them and check any that we feel we need to and with our experience this is normally very obvious to us. You will need a friend on hand or be prepared to the do checking with full instructions once the call finishes. If you do have a friend on hand to check your measurements do follow the guide below ‘Prepare in advance’.
ZOOM FITTING
For existing clients (who would like to tweak sizing) or NEW clients but only after a consultation has been completed or where you know what you would like to order in advance, as a complete fitting can be very timely.
We will run through all of your measurements and we will supervise every step of the way. We will watch, instruct you exactly where to measure and in cases have been zoomed in to take the actual measurement from the tape measure nourselves … We do like you to have at least completed the foot measurements (which rarely require supervision) in advance so we can concentrate on the leg measurements.
Prepare in advance:
If you are buying a model with laces, wear your thinnest breeches. If you are buying a model with only a zipper wear your thickest breeches. Only wear winter breeches if you don’t want your boots super tight (initially), where comfort is of the most importance (always) or if you want only want to wear winter breeches with your boots regardless of the model.
Before the zoom
We will send you details of your appointment via email at least 2 days in advance unless you have booked a last-minute appointment and we will send the information as soon as possible. We will forward the link for you to click at the time of your appointment and clarify how you need to prepare in advance (you don’t have to have a zoom account).
Once you have finalised your order
We will send you a checklist regarding your measurements for you to sign-off. We will then prepare a very detailed invoice for you to accept or amend (if necessary) and no orders will be processed until you have approved the invoice and paid the deposit. The balance is not required until the boots arrive in the UK, but you can make an adhoc payment in our online store, if you would like to, at any point during production.

This year we celebrated the launch of cc x miltonmenasco’s super sassy range of luxury sweatshirts. A collaboration between friends Celeris UK CEO Cate (cc), who saw this as a personal project and Alli Addison (mm), better known as @miltonmenasco on social media.
Six months ago when we teased our followers with a sneaky peak of the slogan Giddy Up during a photoshoot, our inboxes (on both sides of the Atlantic) went crazy with requests to ‘print it now!’ We thought, thought again and then thought some more before truly believing riders saw it for the strictly tongue-in-cheek camaraderie between equestrians that we intended.
Work then began on sourcing the finest quality premium sweatshirt we could find with ethical credentials and the perfect fit. We wanted a relaxed boyfriend (ish) fit with long sleeves that allowed for riding (without ending up around our elbows), the perfect stay in place waistband, a lighter weight fabric that hung beautifully and could be layered and importantly an ethically produced product with organic credentials. Not too much to ask then?
Sweatshirt sourced (finally) we decided on two slogans, Giddy up and Luxe Pony Club - a nod to the club we will simply never leave, for our first foray into fashion of which both of us knew Not. A. Thing. Production started and we were off and as we’d almost sold out at pre-order we crossed our bridles and prayed to Pegasus. A month later the sweatshirts dropped in the studio and we couldn’t get into the boxes quicker and wow – we had no idea what to expect but we expected a lot (and we got it). Next step (the same day) was to ship the goodies to LA where Alli lives and sit back and await the menasco magic – and as a marketing supremo we had no idea what to expect but we knew it would be so good – and boy it was.
After shipping out 100’s of sweatshirts all we had to was sit back and wait for the verdict. Not happy to just have the best slogan of 2019, we wanted the best sweatshirt too – and just one day after the first huge batch was dispatched, the reviews rolled in, one after the other – love, love, love e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g was the unanimous melody we could hear and not one single sweatshirt was returned for the sizing either.
So what did Cate and Alli do next? Limited edition Giddy up and brand-new slogan Hey Breeches! are about to drop for Christmas and tees are coming for spring 2020. With more unashamedly audacious slogans in the bag, watch out for more badass babe à la modecoming your way in 2020.
We truly hope you love and remember they must be worn with attitude!
Buying lace-up boots (a few years ago), was a real fashion statement but fast forward to today and they are our best-selling models and not just because they look exquisite. Not only do each pair look (and feel) like a unique masterpiece but they are incredibly versatile and most importantly, offer flexible sizing. Read on to discover how these beautiful boot models compare and which is the best choice for you.
On first glance you could be forgiven for thinking these two models are very similar but look closely and you will notice some major differences. Both have full-length laces and full-length zips (for totally non-fiddle boots) but that’s just about where the similarities end.
The Bia and Bia Day are structured boots made of panels giving you a firm and supportive feel in the saddle. The concealed zip is off centre and almost hidden from view, which creates a streamlined look and feel. The laces are thread through hooks with the Bia or eyelets with the Bia Day, which are sealed to your perfect fit from day one but you can adjust the lacing quite easily.
The Bia & Bia Day
Are the only models where we can add a gloss foot and with any gloss leather chosen we can add a matching (or contrast) inside matt panel so there’s no squeak either – generally (just don’t polish this section too much if you are squeaking). There are also 3 options for the fastening of these models with the long strap and popper (hiding the laces) the most popular, followed by the long strap and buckle (gold, silver, silver and diamante and antique available) and finally a short strap and popper, which leaves the laces on full display giving the longest leg line possible.
Whilst the Bia and Bia Day require very little in the way of breaking in it will feel very different to a back-zip boot and we always advise clients to prepare to spend a week or two breaking them in. Add to this polished leather and they will feel very firm to begin with!
The Bia Sport
We refer to the Bia Sport as the baby sister of the Bia and Bia Day. With eyelet lacing giving a soft appearance and a back zip they will be super soft from day one. We can also add the hooks to the Bia Sport if this is your preference at no additional cost. As with all of our back-zip boots created ultimately from one piece of leather that wraps around your leg, they won’t be as structured as boots created from panels as they don’t have any boning, but they will still be more supportive than you think. The Bia Sport works particularly well as a fashion boot too with many clients buying suede models to wear with jeans and leggings!
So, which to choose?
Styling will most probably be key here and most clients are drawn to one or the other – it’s rare for clients to be torn between the two strangely. Both models offer flexibility in sizing which is favoured by so many riders who know they might fluctuate in weight from time to time – perfect during super-hot summers where most of us will struggle to get their boots up at one time or another. It is worth bearing in mind they will arrive with a perfect fit where the flexibility will come from opening them rather than tightening them.
Dressage riders (in most cases) are more drawn to the Bia & Bia Day, which offer far more support generally and most definitely in the ankle area - that said both will fit the ankle perfectly! The Bia Sport is most definitely a more casual, laid back model and whilst also loved by dressage riders will be just perfect for showjumpers too.
Eventers, showjumpers and even those hunting (yes, we did say hunting) have also bought the Bia or Bia Day but this is where they can be divided on opinion as our jumping collection give a far closer contact than the Bia Sport.
Ultimately you can dressage or jump (secure your laces!) and anything in-between and the boots will perform beautifully. The question will be if you want a firm full on dressage boot (Bia / Bia Day) or a more laid back and as comfortable as old slippers (Bia Sport) pair of boots. Ultimately both will feel amazing after the breaking in period so go with your first instinct and buy the boots you were first drawn to!

You will hear and see many, many reports of how comfortable our boots are, from practically day one - but how true is this and does this refer to all models or just certain ones? Trying to establish just how long a pair of boots will take to break in is almost impossible but we can say, with very good authority, that most clients will say that within a ride or two they feel totally comfortable. However, the model that you choose and the leather you select will have a big impact on this and some models and colours will take much longer to break than others. Read on to see if our guide will help you decide what’s right for you.
We use the highest-grade natural leather available (untreated with chemicals), coupled with our boots being totally lined in calfskin too (no bonding here) that are beautifully structured through design and exemplary stitch work and with these measures come boots that will last many years. Ultimately, this will be dependent on how often you wear them, how you look after them and whether you are an amateur rider, semi-professional or professional riders and the true demands of how hard you expect your boots to work. Due to the leather we use and how they are made means our boots will most definitely need wearing in – to some degree or another. It would be wrong and impossible to say that they won’t – every boot is different, and every rider is different.
Dressage boots with reinforced panels will be a hard nut to crack (literally) and what we do say to clients is that if you are already used to a hard dressage boot then ours should be relatively easy to break in as this is the constant feedback that we receive with many saying they were comfortable from day one and even a few riding in a competition within days (!) – rhino skin (Anna Ross) possibly, but true nonetheless.
Those who have never ridden in a hard boot or custom-fitted boot will struggle (almost definitely with a hard model) and we will actually do all we can to steer clients into a structured model (Bia or Passage Day) which will be much softer, with Passage Day being the softest but still structured and firm depending on the leather chosen. That said, add a polished leather to these models and again they will require a slightly extended breaking in period. See our blog ‘Reinforced or not reinforced’ to read a little more on this subject and whether a reinforced model is right for you.
Here’s our very rough guide to the breaking in period…
If comfort is more important than the model or colour you want, please let us know during the ordering process.
Practically soft from day one, I can’t cope with breaking in at all!
Choose a rear-zip model or the Passage Day in a matte or suede leather. Absolutely no polished, gloss or chestnut brown leather! These will feel comfortable from the minute you step into them and within a day or two should feel wonderful. However, if you are super sensitive then we might need to make your boots a little bigger so they do not feel quite so restricted from the very start.
Softest option:Suede leather on these models are super, super soft from the second you step into them.
I expect to have to break them in but want them to be comfortable within a week or two.
As above but add to this the Bia and Polo but if you added a polished, gloss or chestnut leather they may take up to a month to really feel great. We always say wear a blister plasters, thinner breeches (or adjust the lacing on Bia models) and add a heel raiser if required. Prepare for a little period of harder going but ultimately it still won’t take too long.
Softest option:matte leather but all will feel firm and all will require breaking in.
I want a hard boot and I know they will be a tough nut to crack - bring it on!
As we already said, if you haven’t had a hard dressage boot this could be tough depending on how happy you are to take the time to break them in. Clients who have had custom boots will find breaking in the easiest whilst newbies might find it the hardest.
Softest option:there is no softest option, these are hard cored dressage boots. Prepare to work hard!
One final thing ….
If you know you have sensitive feet or your heel particularly suffers in new shoes/boots, add a sheepskin foot to your boot! With 100% sheepskin you can be assured of warm cosy feet in the winter and cool feet in the summer and better still an easier time breaking in any boot model. Most clients choosing sheepskin say they will never go back! Additional cost will apply so do ask when you order.
Add heel risers:
this will take a 1cm off the back edge seam of your boots and does an amazing job of keeping the leather off the back of your knee whilst you break your boots in. You can buy ours here.
All this said …
Nothing but riding will break in your boots and this is not a science, so our advice is only a guide based on many years of experience and a huge amount of feedback from our clients. Generally, there are no major issues and within no time those beautiful boots will feel as beautiful as they look. That said no two skins are the same and no two boots will be identical to break in. Riding in the boots really is the only way to break them in as walking about in them really doesn’t mimic the riding position required to literally ‘break’ them and allow them to soften.
In the absolute worst-case scenario, we can send them to be pre-stretched for you but we really don’t like to do this (and rarely do) as ultimately allowing them to stretch and break naturally will maintain their original shape much better for many years to come - so grab the blister plasters, the heel raisers, the thickest short ankle socks and the thinnest breeches and get riding.
The Bia & Bella
The Bia and Bella are structured boots made of panels giving you a firm and supportive feel in the saddle. The concealed zip is off centre and almost hidden from view, which creates a streamlined look and feel. The laces are threaded through hooks on the Bia, which are sealed to your perfect fit from day one and eyelets on the Bella, which are more like traditional lacing.
There are also 3 options for the fastenings - the long strap and popper (hiding the laces) the most popular, followed by the long strap and buckle (gold, silver, silver and diamante and antique available) and finally a short strap and popper, which leaves the laces on full display giving the longest leg line possible.
The regular panels are firm depending on the leather chosen but there is the option to add a reinforced outer panel if required. You can also add full sheepskin lining or just add to the foot making these models amongst the most flexible of our collection.
Whilst the Bia and Bella require very little by way of breaking in, they will feel very different to a rear zip boot and we always advise clients to prepare to spend a week or two breaking them in. Add to this polished leather and they will feel very firm to begin with but just give them time and they will feel amazing and like a second skin.
The Rita
We refer to the Rita as the baby sister of the Bia and Bella. With eyelet lacing giving a softer appearance and a rear zip they will be super soft from day one. As with all of our rear zip boots they won’t be as structured as boots created from panels as they don’t have any boning and are made from one piece of leather, but they will still be more supportive than you think due to our unique close contact feel from precision craftsmanship. The Rita works particularly well as a fashion boot too with many clients buying suede models to wear with jeans and leggings!
So which to choose?
Styling will most probably be key here and most clients are drawn to one or the other – it’s rare for clients to be torn between the two strangely. All laced models offer flexibility in sizing, which is favoured by so many riders who know they might fluctuate in weight from time to time – perfect during super-hot summers where most of us will struggle to get their boots up at one time or another. It is worth bearing in mind they will arrive with a perfect fit where the flexibility will come from opening them rather than tightening them.
Dressage riders (in most cases) are more drawn to the Bia and Bella, which offer far more support generally and most definitely in the ankle area - that said both will fit the ankle perfectly! The Rita is most definitely a more casual, laid back version of the Bia and Bella.
Eventers, showjumpers and even those hunting (yes, we did say hunting) have also bought the Bia and Bella but this is where they can be divided as our jumping collection give a far closer contact, which would be our first suggestions for those who only jumping or where jumping is the primary discipline.
Ultimately you can dressage or jump (secure your laces!) and anything in-between and the boots will perform beautifully. The question will be if you want a firm full on dressage boot (Bia and Bella) or a more laid back and as comfortable as old slippers (Rita) pair of boots. If you want to create the illusion of longer legs both will do the job but the Bia and Bella have the edge if you want that sucked in (think boot Spanx) leanest possible look. Ultimately both will feel amazing after the breaking in period so go with your first instinct and buy the boots you were first drawn to!
One of the biggest conundrums in the studio when buying black competition boots, is to gloss or not to gloss? What are the options and how do you decide what's best?
There are only three real choices of course - matte leather, possibly the most practical as you can polish out any minor scuffs and scratches and at competition time (importantly), hand them over to a loved one to polish like crazy on your behalf. No one is quite as precious if they're matte although don't mistake that for not watching (like a hawk) whilst said ‘precious boots’ are polished and let’s not forget that originally boots were ‘glossed’ by hand by those in the military who created the patent look with a dollop of spit and hours of polish (literally) so rest assured with a lot of effort you can create the perfect shine.
The next choice is pre-polished leather, which we refer to (not surprisingly) as 'polished' is marginally more practical than high gloss BUT this cannot be polished (however crazy) into anything more than the medium shine that it is. Great for those feeling that high gloss is a step to far and don't want to draw too much attention to themselves.
And finally, our high gloss is a superior gloss leather that won't crack but it will crease (at the ankle for example). No real maintenance required (you couldn't polish shinier!) but it is high maintenance. Rider beware here because unless you have the pleasure of having someone strap you into your boots before flinging you onto the saddle, you really don't want to do too much other than ride in these beauties. If you do scratch them be prepared to reach for the black nail varnish and try to blend.
It is worth bearing in mind that the workshop are not happy to add gloss to the foot of any model other than the Bia (due to how it is constructed) unless the client accepts that we will not add any warranty for the leather on the foot as the foot is going to be particularly prone to damage from minor scuffs, scratches and full on hoof marks.
Ultimately, it’s personal choice and the super glossy is, by far, the most coveted, stroked and admired in the studio but only the fearless or those who will not be deterred at all and have an entourage (consisting usually of Dad) are quite brave enough for the full on high gloss. It is undoubtedly beautiful but you have been warned - gloss is delicate and riding isn’t so it really is a case of being sensible.

Should I buy a reinforced dressage boot, do I ‘need’ a reinforced dressage boot? We are asked this question frequently from dressage riders who think that following tradition you really, really must wear hard boots if you are to be taken seriously as a rider and competitor. This might have been true many years ago when you required a reinforced panel to simply keep your leg still but back then most boots were rock solid all the way around too, meaning you had practically no contact (feel) with your horse or your legs in a lot of cases! Fast forward to today and the fit of our boots really does give you all you need in terms of support and stillness and so then why would you require the hard panel? The truth is you don’t really, really ‘need’ one, it’s more down to personal preferred style and the options you want to add to your boots.
The Passage and Amazona
We recommend the super hard reinforced models to those already used to the feel of a hard boot or those not put off by breaking in or mastering new skills by way of walking (can feel rather odd) or riding (getting on can be a challenge initially). However, that said our reinforced boots do have a soft matt inside panel so you will always get a superior close-contact feel with your horse meaning our hard boots aren’t quite so hard to break in. From experience, clients are generally competing in them within a week or two (or a day or two if you are Anna Ross) are happy and very comfortable within a month.
The newest dressage model, the Amazona is almost identical to the Passage in styling but is super hard and is not for the faint hearted. The only real difference in styling is the stitching around the heel and the ankle and most clients would not notice this if we didn't point it out.
Polo Passage
As a nod to the beloved Polo boot we introduced the Polo Passage a few years ago which bridges the gap between the regular and the reinforced models with aplomb. Supremely stylish this boot feels like a regular model generally (depending on leather used) with soft but supportive ankles but with the reinforced outside panel. Note, these can feel very hard initially and whilst every client is different, most will most definitely know they are wearing these from the get go.
The Bia and Bella
Clients will often ask if you can compete in the Bia or Bella and the answer is yes in the UK! If you are outside the UK please check with your dressage governing body to be sure! Our best selling models are available in both reinforced and regular models and they look identical - even the regular (non-reinforced) model is super firm so very few of us will actually need the addition of the stiff panel.
Of all our hard models the Bia will be the most comfortable to break in as you can loosen the laces and add thicker socks if necessary! Worth a thought if you really want a hard boot but want to be able to take the pressure off if necessary!
The Olivia, a softer alternative.
For dressage boot newbies another model to consider is the Olivia, which looks almost identical to the Passage but has the stitching and style additions borrowed from the Diogo - along with all the soft panels. Maintain the traditional look and feel of a dressage boot but take pleasure in this super soft but structured version that will feel practically perfect from day one. You can add an elastic panel in boots with regular leathers too for additional flexibility in hot summer months or winter when additional layers are required. For a firmer feel choose a polished leather to add a noticeable stiffness!
The detailing you need to consider.
The last and final important factor is the leather you choose and if you are looking for the more traditional glossy look, then you really would benefit and we really do like to insist, from the reinforced panels as they work better with patent, gloss and other treated leathers. These panels won’t wrinkle (so much) and will have the smoothest, smartest finish. We never put the gloss on the inside panel either as they would not only squeak like mad but be super slippery! A bit like putting wallpaper on a wall, if you were to try and put the wallpaper on your sofa, you could do it but it just wouldn’t look quite as nice! It’s worth noting that our patents finishes won’t ever crack as we only use the finest, highest grade leathers available but there could be creasing in the ankle area (over time) as this is almost unavoidable.
So the answer is not quite so simple but if you want a super smart dressage boot worthy of any podium and a sash, it’s your first pair and you desperately want the traditional look and feel but haven’t had experience with hard boots, we would always suggest the Olivia or any panelled regular model (zippers in the front) with a polished firm leather. If you really, really want the stiff boot feel then we’d recommend the Passage or the Olivia in a polished leather! However, if you are a dressage diva who will not tolerate anything other than reinforced boots you will simply love our collection of hard dressage boots, which will leave you wondering what to do with all the time you would have usually set aside to wear them in – maybe plan another pair?
Watch out in 2020 for a brand new unique dressage model - more to be revealed soon.

]]>With the majority of riders wearing navy blue jackets and with BD relaxing the rules on the colour and textures of riding boots allowed whilst competing now, it wasn’t surprising to see that navy blue suddenly became the new black. With tradition practically hurled out of the window overnight, riders embraced the one rule left – your boots must match your jacket (more or less).
The trend right now (for now) is definitely, and hardly surprisingly, coloured boots which make up to 75% of our competition boots sold. All of a sudden everything from light tan to chocolate brown and the 19 colours we have wedged between the two colours, could be worn with a brown, tan or tweed jacket. Those with navy blue jackets wanted, and quite rightly so, navy blue boots and we have 5 to choose from (and growing) with faux ostrich and faux iguana planned for October! Poor black is out of favour somewhat (currently) but will always be the first choice (regardless) for the more traditional rider who would never consider navy any more than they would hunt without a hipflask – unthinkable!
Dark navy blue – a true navy think black but softer.
Navy blue - lighter but can have a grey tone
Navy gloss - as accents or reinforced boots only
Navy faux croc gloss - shimmers a beautiful blue
Midnight faux cobra - hugely popular but delicate leather
Now to all amongst us, and other than those of bionic eye, the dark navy actually doesn’t really look anything other than black unless you put the boots against something black. The lighter navy can look slightly grey unless right next to navy boots (but it’s definitely blue and not grey). The gloss’s and animal textures are perfect for accents and accessories and the faux croc gloss makes the most beautiful spur straps and protectors.
Which to choose? Again, it’s personal choice and you can add so many little details and pipping to make something special to you and possibly match detailing on your jacket too and whilst we can advise, we can’t make the final choice. Just consider that the dark navy is dark but super safe if you are struggling to veer far enough from black to be considered going rogue and if you want the blue to be more obvious go one shade lighter and add lots of the glossy detailing, which will really make the blue pop!
Disclaimer: we are not in any way suggesting that those that hunt are alcoholics.
At this exact moment (and I know because I just counted them), we have 95 colours (more coming March 2020) comprising a mixture of smooth, textured and printed leathers.
Second only to ‘which boot do I choose?’ comes, ‘how on earth do I choose the colours'? Is there really any such thing as too much choice or too many options – possibly. If like me you are a) a perfectionist b) a procrastinator and b) full of OCD – one or more, or god forbid all of these traits might just turn this design process into a nightmare. A bit too dramatic? Not so, choosing the right boot is a big deal, a really big deal. Being an expensive purchase, each client, quite rightly, wants to get it right. Usually, within 10 seconds of stepping in the studio, the client suddenly realises that our hour appointment (which seemed excessive when booking) might just take every minute of that hour – or 4 more …
The very first question we ask with reference to colour (when a client is struggling) is usually is what colour is your horse - maybe not surprisingly in an era where matchy-matchy is of as much importance as the brand of your hat.
For example, for those with a red horse we suggest steering clear of reds, pinks, yellows and some more orangey browns (depending on the level of gingerness or strawberryness), for obvious reasons. We then ask about breeches and the colour or colours preferred. I personally favour dark colours and for no more reason that anything else would be filthy in minutes and no, I rarely would consider white jeans.
Fortunately, it’s rare to find a client who wears all colours of the rainbow, which, in truth, would be a bit of a stab in the dark but find below a mini guide to our colour rules – feel free to bend them as much as required!
Black is black and there are no levels of black, however, there are textures and glosses to mix it up all nicely to produce an equally beautiful boot with some unique touches. Black is chosen more often than you’d imagine and is second only to light natural tan in our colour chart. Is universally accepted as a colour that can be worn with any shade of horse or riding outfit.
From royal blue to dark blue black – it’s worth remembering that unless side-by-side, with a black boot, our darkest navy is very navy and almost black. From a distance you would be hard pushed to tell but you know and that’s all that matters. Navy is safe and dependable and worn best with navy, grey or beige breeches and any colour horse, rather like the black. Royal blue and bright blue faux crocs are for the wilder amongst us who are really not bothered about the breeches – the boots will do the talking. With so many show jackets being navy the navy boot is almost the number one option for a competition boot!
From mid-brown to dark chocolate, these shades of browns are very popular choices for those desperately wanting to choose tan boots but feel they are a little impractical - so opt for the safer bet. Stylish with any shade of brown breeches and horse from beige to dark, however, if you have a dark bay and choose dark brown boots – just about anything will match!
From light natural tan to through to camel these colours are easy-peasy to wear with just about any colour breeches and you can even get away with these on a chestnut (of any shade). A colour that stands out and is constantly admired for all the right reasons – just be prepared to answer ‘they’re Celeris boots’ a lot.
From pale pinks to deep Bordeaux, these are best for those who, surprisingly, prefer dark colours for both horses and breeches and look particularly stylish with denim. Not ideal for a chestnut sadly although, if you dare, who are we to question?
From pale dove grey gloss to dark elephant grey, another range for those favouring dark breeches, although brown breeches would clash somewhat, however, by how much, would depend on your levels of OCD. Perfect with a dark horse or on the contrary, and maybe obviously, greys!
From florescent yellow to purple faux croc gloss, there’s a lot to choose from in this psychedelic colour wheel and only the bold and those that want to stand out, thumb through this oohing and ahhing and for them there is no rule-book!
From baby cheetah to patterned faux croc, those wearing these are not bothered about colours or tradition; it’s all about the leopard baby!
