Boot Care Guide | Maintain Your Celeris Boots

Your boots were an investment — so it’s worth looking after them. Without a doubt, regular cleaning and waxing will extend their life and performance.

We’ve had clients return to the studio after ten years (or more), and their boots still look incredible — because they’ve looked after the leather religiously. On the flip side, we’ve also seen boots come back after just a few months looking ten years old, simply due to lack of care.

The good news? Even if your boots have been a little neglected, it’s not too late to turn things around and give them the attention they deserve.

We only use natural matte leathers that are pigment-dyed — they love to be nourished. Our luxe cream wax is specially designed to be soaked up by the leather, building a rich, beautiful patina over time.

If your boots feature a mix of leathers, please read the care instructions below for guidance on how to treat each part properly.

FIRST THINGS FIRST ...

Always allow wet boots to dry thoroughly at room temperature before cleaning. Never apply products to damp leather — let them dry naturally, away from direct heat first.

MATTE AND TEXTURED MATTE LEATHERS

  1. Wipe down your boots with a damp sponge and flick a small brush over zips, hooks, and creases to remove any dirt or sand.
  2. Apply our foaming cleanser to a clean, damp sponge and work it into the leather using circular motions — pay extra attention to those creases!
  3. Let them dry if they’re damp.
  4. Apply our luxe cream wax sparingly with another damp sponge or our brush, making sure to work it into all the creases, hooks, and stitching.
  • Let it soak in if your leather needs a bit of extra nourishment.
  1. Buff like mad with a brush to reach every nook and cranny. You can use a microfibre cloth, but it won’t get into the tricky spots quite as well.
  2. Note: Don’t over-buff the inside panel — it’ll get slippery!
  3. Top tip: Add a nylon ankle stocking over your brush and rebuff for the ultimate shine.
  4. Repeat regularly!
  5. Finish by storing your boots in a beautiful boot bag.

POLISHED, GLOSS & HIGH SHINE LEATHERS

  • Follow steps 1 to 3  as directed above.
  • Note: You can use our cream wax but buff off with a microfibre cloth — not a brush.
  • Gloss sprays and sponges can be used for added shine (we don’t offer these), but always follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.

SUEDE LEATHER AND SUEDE PARTS

  • Use a specialist suede cleaner only.
  • Apply a specialist suede nano-protector regularly to all suede areas — this helps maintain their water-resistant properties.
  • Note: Never use wax on suede. Stick to dedicated suede cleaners and sprays, and always follow the manufacturer’s instructions

NUBUCK LEATHER AND NUBUCK DETAILS

  • Use our luxury foaming leather cleanser or a specialist nubuck cleaner.
  • After cleaning, apply our specialist nubuck glycerine restorer and protector to nourish and protect the leather.
  • Note: Do not use wax on nubuck. Only use dedicated nubuck cleaners and protectors, and always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

ALL ZIPS

Taking care of your zips is essential — broken teeth or a full zip failure can almost always be avoided with proper care.

  • Never attach anything to the zip pull. If you do, it’s only a matter of time before you break the pull — or worse, the entire zip. Only ever use your fingers (or someone else’s, if needed at first).
  • Always sit down to do up your zips. From day one, this takes pressure off your calves and makes zipping easier.
  • After every use, brush out any sand or dirt from the zip using a toothbrush or similar small brush.
  • At the same time, brush between the leather and the zip cover to remove trapped debris.
  • Not essential, but worthwhile: apply a specialist zip wax (it looks like a lip balm), or a zip spray with a thin applicator straw. Be careful not to get any on the leather.
