Your boots were an investment — so it’s worth looking after them.
Without a doubt, regular cleaning and waxing will extend their life and performance.
We’ve had clients return to the studio after ten years (or more), and their boots still look incredible — because they’ve looked after the leather religiously. On the flip side, we’ve also seen boots come back after just a few months looking ten years old, simply due to lack of care.
The good news? Even if your boots have been a little neglected, it’s not too late to turn things around and give them the attention they deserve.
We only use natural matte leathers that are pigment-dyed — they love to be nourished. Our luxe cream wax is specially designed to be soaked up by the leather, building a rich, beautiful patina over time.
If your boots feature a mix of leathers, please read the care instructions below for guidance on how to treat each part properly.
Matte & Textured Matte Leathers
- If your boots are wet, let them dry fully before cleaning.
Wipe down with a damp sponge, then brush gently to remove dirt from zips, hooks, and creases.
- Apply our foaming cleaner with a clean damp sponge in circular motions — focus on creases where grime builds up.
- Let them dry again if needed.
- Apply our luxe cream wax sparingly with a damp sponge or brush — work it into creases, stitching, and hooks.
- Let the wax soak in if the leather feels dry.
- Buff thoroughly with a brush (a microfiber cloth works too, but won’t reach tight areas as well).
- Note: Avoid over-buffing the inner panel — it can become slippery.
- Top tip: Slip a nylon stocking over your brush for a high-gloss finish.
- Clean regularly and store in a boot bag to protect them.
Polished, Gloss & Gloss-Finish Leathers
- Follow steps 1 to 3 above.
- You can use our wax, but buff off with a microfibre cloth only — not a brush.
- Optional: Use a gloss spray (not provided by us).
Suede Leathers
- SUse a specialist suede cleaner only.
- Apply a suede-specific nano-protector regularly to maintain water resistance.
- Do not use wax on suede — stick to suede-specific products.
Nubuck Leathers
- Step 1 above followed by cleaning with our foaming leather cleanser or a specialist nubuck cleaner.
- Follow with our nubuck glycerine restorer and protector.
- Do not use wax on nubuck — use nubuck-specific care only.
Note on Specialist Fabrics
Specialist fabrics can be difficult to clean — so a little extra care goes a long way. Being mindful in how you wear and store them is the best way to preserve their look and longevity.
Zips — Handle With Care
- Never attach anything to the zip pull — it can damage or break the zip.
- Use fingers only (yours or someone else's if new boots are stiff).
- Always zip up while sitting to reduce pressure on the calf.
- After each use, brush out sand and dirt from the zip and zip cover area using a toothbrush.
- Optional: Apply a zip wax stick or use a zip spray with care (avoid contact with leather).
