How to Measure for Your Celeris Boots (and Get the Perfect Fit)

Embrace the Tape Measure – Your Perfect Fit Starts Here

When it comes to custom riding boots, nothing matters more than the measurements. At Celeris UK, the foundation of our brand — and the secret behind the comfort and longevity of our boots — is the #perfectfit.

Around 55% of clients measure themselves at home using our detailed riding boot measuring guide, and in nearly every case, the fit is every bit as precise as if we had measured them in person. The key? Take your time and follow the guide to the letter.

Yes, it’s a bit fiddly. My first pair took an hour and a half — and I still remember it (and so does he!). But those boots are now over 12 years old and still going strong. That’s the value of getting it right.

We have a picture guide to each measurement so you know exactly where to measure!

Why Perfect Measurements Matter for Made-to-Measure Riding Boots

Every pair of Celeris boots is made-to-order and handcrafted in Portugal, with precision for both the left and right legs - because no two legs are the same and rarely are two boots.

We don’t compromise. We triple-check every measurement, and if something looks off, we’ll get in touch before the order is confirmed. We obsess over the small things, especially any differences between the left and the right leg, we will always ask you to check them or confirm you have .

Superior Support, Before and After You Order

We don’t just sell custom riding boots, we partner with you to get the fit right from day one. Whether you’re measuring at home or visiting our studio, you’ll receive expert, personal support at every step.

Prefer extra reassurance?

We can measure with you live on Zoom, guiding you (and your helper) through each step in real time. And we’ll happily schedule as many virtual fittings as needed until we’re confident the measurements are as good as perfect.

Our Fit Promise

Ultimately, we would never process an order unless we were confident the measurements were as accurate as possible. If there were to be a minor issue - and it really would only ever be a tweak, we would assist you without question and resolve it in whatever way was required. You can rest assured we’ll be with you until the #perfectfit is achieved, whether we measured you or not.

It’s also worth noting that minor fluctuations in weight won’t affect the overall fit of the boot — they just might not feel quite as super-tight as we originally intended (which some might argue isn’t such a bad thing).

However, significant weight loss will affect your measurements. We’ve written a dedicated blog post about this, and we strongly recommend holding off on your order until you’ve reached your goal weight. You’ll find the full guidance [here].

How to Measure for Custom Riding Boots — The Golden Rules

✔️ Never measure yourself. You can’t. Muscles shift as you move — the difference between perfect and painful.
✔️ Use sticky tape to mark positions. Some use elastic bands to guide the tape — not our first choice, but it’s worked.
✔️ Never add cm or “just in case” room. We factor in all allowances based on leather, stretch, and style.
✔️ If you want a bit of space, wear thicker socks while measuring don't randomly add anything.
✔️ Always start your tape at zero. You’d be surprised how many people start at 1 cm.
✔️ Stand straight. Don’t twist or turn to look. Face forward and let your helper do the work.

We’re here to help!

We are a small, passionate team — the same people answering your questions are the ones helping craft your boots. Your measurements are digitally mapped and laser-checked before production, so if there’s an issue, we’ll start by double-checking with you.

Expect us to always ask:

  • Can you try them first thing in the morning.
  • Can zip them up from sitting (unless back zip boots)
  • Can you wear just ankle socks to begin with until you've managed to break them in.
  • Can you send a new set of measurements?

And then we’ll offer solutions — not stress. There are always lots of options! All is most definitely not lost!

Final Thought:

If you follow the Celeris boot measuring guide step-by-step — no skipping, no guessing — the chance of a poor fit is almost zero. So:

  • Download the guide
  • Read the “Important” section — twice
  • Grab a helper
  • Set aside an hour (or two)
  • Measure carefully and without shortcuts

We’ll take it from there. Together, we’ll get you into the perfect pair of custom, made-to-measure riding boots — no matter where you live.
